members of NAMI Lubbock, the local affiliate of NAMI (NAMI Alliance
on Mental Illness) in Lubbock, Texas. This group is designed to
facilitate group communication among the members. Participation in
the e-group is restricted to members only.

NAMI Texas E-Group
NAMI Texas (National Alliance on Mental Illness of Texas) is a
501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by volunteers in 1984 to
address the needs of Texans affected by serious mental illness.
Currently, more than 3000 members belong to 41 local NAMI Texas
affiliates. NAMI Texas is unique in its grassroots orientation and
composition of persons diagnosed with serious mental illnesses, as
well as parents, spouses, children, siblings, friends and
professionals. NAMI Texas provides individualized educational
curricula and workshops addressing the many needs of different
constituencies. NAMI Texas also sponsors monthly support groups
throughout the state. Ongoing support for families and consumers is
crucial for coping with the day-to-day challenges of living with
mental illness. Advocacy is a key component to improving the lives
of persons affected by mental illness. NAMI Texas advocates for
improved mental health services and access to services as well as a
variety of issues specific to individuals living with mental
illness.
This forum is intended to connect NAMI Texas members so that they
may exchange ideas, support, news, and create stronger bonds via the
internet.
