NAMI Lubbock (formerly LEAMI - Llano Estacado Alliance for the Mentally Ill) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by volunteers in 1987.  We are an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness  (NAMI) and NAMI Texas.  We are a grassroots coalition of families, friends, professionals, providers, and people living with mental illness.

Mission Statement          

This corporation is formed to serve as an alliance of members of Lubbock, Texas, and the surrounding region, dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life for those whose lives are affected by mental illness, and to provide support and information to loved ones of those living with mental illness.   This Corporation shall:  

  • Provide educational classes and support groups for people with mental illness, their families and friends.

  • Promote and support research into the cause, treatment, and cure of serious brain disorders.

  • Assist and advise mental health care providers, agencies, and organizations.

  • Dispense information to the community about mental illness, services available and services needed.

  • Encourage and promote the development of effective and economical systems of health care for persons with mental illness.

  • Encourage and promote acceptance of the integration of persons with mental illness into the community.
